Available in standard form with power of upto 247bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the A3. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 271.7bhp to 419.9bhp which seems almost too good to be true but is possible if you have deep pockets.

The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a ’247bhp A3 Sportbacks’. There are some star performers in the A3 line up. With a few mods you will make yours a road scortcher rather than just a hot hatch.Your first engine modifications for your A3 should be an induction kit, sports exhaust and fuel boost valve.
The next level of modifications involve taking more aggressive action. The A3 responds well to a fast road cam which is one of the best value mods out there. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your A3 with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.

The forced induction A3s are around with some impressive Turbo and supercharger conversions being done. These give impressive power gains over standard but require a lot of effort to get working properly. If you have a turbo or supercharger get the intercooler uprated for even more power. The top A3 offers a base power level of 247 bhp. When setup for motorports we can expect to see almost mythical power figures approaching 321.1 bhp to 469.3 bhp! The A3s handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. Although lowering improves handling you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
