Modifications for the Chrysler PT
When tuning your PT it is important that you get it right so follow our PT tuning overview and see which the best modifications are.
Available in standard form with power of upto 145bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the PT. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 159.5bhp to 246.5bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!
The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a ’145bhp PT Cruisers’. The more powerful PTs respond well to tuning mods. PT tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.
FASTROAD CAMS should be next up on your tuning list and will offer big power gains on the PT. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your PT with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.
The PTs come in various power levels right up to 145bhp as per the PT Cruiser If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of PT you will see power gains from anywhere between 159.5bhp to 246.5bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. . Many PT owners improve the handling of their cars with slightly stiffer springs. Although lowering improves handling you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
We will be covering PT modifications in more detail in the future so plase bookmark this site and check back for regular updates.
