Really hot tuning tips and advice.
Available in standard form with power of upto 112bhp (depending on the year). From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 123.2bhp to 190.4bhp with mods ranging from a few subtle add ons to a full engine rebuild! An egine swap would be a good plan as the standard C3 range of engines are a little power shy.
The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a more powerful engine from the Citroen range (even older engines are good propositions if you get the engine mounts you need). We have also seen a number of Peugeot engine conversion option for the C3 (TorqueCars.com members told us about this one!) It would seem that Citroen were not overly interested in producing a powerful version of the C3 so it is up to you to do the hard work yourself.
C3 tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality sponge or cotton gauze panel air filter. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.
A fast road cam will make quite a reasonable difference to the peak power of you C3. Turn your attention next to the C3s engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power and some owners have reported more economy.
The most powerful C3 in our database offers 112 bhp. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 123.2 bhp to 156.8bhp with mods we have outlined above.
Adding forced induction will see big power gains but this is usually too expensive to be cost effective. Superchargers are generally easier to add aftermarket to a car than a turbo. With a turbo the boost curve is related to the engine speed making it hard to map. It is easier to map a supercharger because the boost is proportional to engine speed on a linear curveSuspension upgrades are next on every C3 owners priority list. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
