Increase the power of your Citroen XM

Available in standard form with power of upto 201bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the XM. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 221.1bhp to 341.7bhp with modifications varying from a few DIY mods to some pretty major engine work. The higher you go the more unreliable the car will be and you should expect to have to rebuild the engine regularly if you want to extract silly power. A big forced induction upgrade would be needed to push beyond the 100bhp per 1000cc limit.
The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a ‘201bhp XM Hatchbacks’. The already BHP endowed range of XMs reward tuners with a satisfying power gain. Top of your list for tuning mods will be a sports exhaust system, a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality induction kit.
The modification that gives the biggest power gain on your car would be a fast road cam. Turn your attention next to the XMs engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.
The top XM Hatchback offers a base power level of 201 bhp. The car tuning guide would expect you to see power gains from 221.1 bhp to 341.7 bhp!
Forced induction XMs respond exceptionally well to tuning mods especially remaps, also add an intercooler to your mod list. The XMs come in various power levels right up to 201bhp. On a motorsport prepared XM it is possible to achieve power figures of anywhere approaching 261.3bhp to 381.9bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. . Many XM owners improve the handling of their cars with slightly stiffer springs. The Car Tuning Guide do not recommend lowering more than 35mm.
