Tuning modifications for the Dacia Duster
We like the Duster and with a few of our Duster tuning tips we are sure you will have a fantastic car. Better than what Dacia ever intended!
Available in standard form with power of upto 69bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Duster. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 75.9bhp to 117.3bhp with modifications varying from a few DIY mods to some pretty major engine work. The higher you go the more unreliable the car will be and you should expect to have to rebuild the engine regularly if you want to extract silly power. A big forced induction upgrade would be needed to push beyond the 100bhp per 1000cc limit.
The more powerful Duster Estates provide a suitable donor engine for the lower powered models in the range. Lighter cars respond very well to tuning, if your car is heavy then your first job should include weight reduction. Top of your list for tuning mods will be a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality panel air filter. The next level of modifications involve taking more aggressive action. The Duster responds reasonably well to a fast road cam which is one of the best value mods out there.
NOTE: POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR BASE POWER. The more you start with the better your gain will be. Don’t waste time on small engines – do a swap. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head. Some Duster owners report increased MPG with a flowed head. Suspension upgrades are next on every Duster owners priority list. To avoid other problems you should lower the car no more than 36mm.
