Increase the power of your Daihatsu Fourtrak

Available in standard form with power of upto 88bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Fourtrak. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 96.8bhp to 149.6bhp but this is far out of the reach of your local part store.
You will need some extensive work on the engine block, gas flowing, porting, 3 angle valve job, fast road cams, a remap, full balance and blueprint and even then you will need to add some pretty serious forced induction upgrades.
An engine swap with that from the 88bhp Fourtrak Softtop will give a massive power gain and provide a better base to work from. Daihatsu have produced some interesting cars over the years. The Fourtraks really will benefit from a hike in the power, alternatively reducing the weight will help to improve the performance of your car. The most frequent modification we see on the Fourtrak include washable replacement panel air filters and a fuel pressure boost valve. The modification that gives the best power gain on your car would be a fast road cam.
NOTE: ALL ENGINE POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR STARTING POWER. The more you start with the better your gain will be. So don’t expect miracles from small engines, and engine swap is a much better proposition. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head. Some Fourtrak owners report increased MPG with a flowed head. Suspension improvements can dramatically increase the road holding and cornering of your Fourtrak. The Car Tuning Guide do not recommend lowering more than 35mm.
