Tuning tips for the Fiat Regata
We look at the latest Fiat Regata tuning parts and recommend the best mods. Read our complete Regata tuning guide.
Available in standard form with power of upto 100bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Regata. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 110bhp to 170bhp which seems almost too good to be true but is possible if you have deep pockets.
To go over the 100bhp per 1000cc limit you would need to be running a pretty serious forced induction setup. If you head for a maximum power figure you need to expect a lot of unreliability. See this link for more details on Engine Tuning
If you have a lower powered Regata your best bet for a mod would be an engine swap with the 100bhp Regata Saloon. Car Tuning Guide think it is a shame that the Regatas were not offered with more powerful engine options, but this is where customisation comes in. Your first engine modifications for your Regata should be a panel air filter, sports exhaust and fuel boost valve.
The next level of modifications involve taking more aggressive action. The Regata responds reasonably well to a fast road cam which is one of the best value mods out there. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your Regata with more power and may actually give a little more economy. So get the engine head polished and ported.
The Regatas come in various power levels right up to 100bhp. If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of Regata you will see power gains from anywhere between 110bhp to 140bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. .
The largest power gains for NASP engines usually involve the addition of forced induction. It is easier to bolt on a supercharger than it is to get an add on turbo working. Turbos give boost in proportion to increasing engine speed and this can make mapping difficult. The nice steady boost to rpm characteristics of the supercharger make them easier to map. Many Regata owners improve the handling of their cars with slightly stiffer springs. A drop of 35mm will work well on most cars, any lower and you will hit other problems.
