Tuning guide for the Ford KA

Available in standard form with power of upto 70bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the KA. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 75bhp to 90bhp with mods ranging from a few subtle add ons to a full engine rebuild! And more in the case of most Turbo engines if you include an uprated turbo.
An engine swap with that from the 70bhp Hatchback or street KA will give a better power gain and provide a better base to work from. The lighter you can make your KA, the better the performance will be. Your first engine modifications for your KA should be a panel air filter, and fuel boost valve. The next level of modifications involve taking more aggressive action. The KA responds reasonably well to a fast road cam which is one of the best value mods out there.
NOTE: POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR BASE POWER. The more you start with the better your gain will be. Don’t waste time on small engines – do a swap. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head. Some KA owners report increased MPG with a flowed head. Suspension upgrades are next on every KA owners priority list. The Car Tuning Guide do not recommend lowering more than 35mm.
