Modifications for the Hyundai Accent

We like the Accent and with a few of our Accent tuning tips we are sure you will have a fantastic car. Better than what Hyundai ever intended!

Available in standard form with power of upto 104bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Accent. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 114.4bhp to 176.8bhp but this is far out of the reach of your local part store.

You will need some extensive work on the engine block, gas flowing, porting, 3 angle valve job, fast road cams, a remap, full balance and blueprint and even then you will need to add some pretty serious forced induction upgrades.

Hyundai mods should include an engine swap to provide a better base to work from. The ‘104bhp Accent Coupes’ is a real gem in terms of power. It would seem that Hyundai were not overly interested in producing a powerful version of the Accent. Your first engine modifications for your Accent should be a panel air filter, sports exhaust and fuel boost valve.

FASTROAD CAMS should be next up on your tuning list and will offer reasonable power gains on the Accent. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head. Some Accent owners report increased MPG with a flowed head.

The most powerful Accent in our database offers 104 bhp. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 114.4 bhp to 145.6bhp with mods we have outlined above.

The largest power gains for NASP engines usually involve the addition of forced induction. Turbos are harder to add to a car than a supercharger. It is harder to map a turbo as the boost comes on progressively with engine speed. Superchargers however will give a boost which is proportional to engine speed so is easier to map. The Accents handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. To avoid other problems you should lower the car no more than 36mm.

We will have more detailed Accent modification guides in the near future. Please check the site regularly for updates.
