Available in standard form with power of upto 72bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Pony X10. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 79.2bhp to 122.4bhp and this would take a lot more than just bolting on a massive exhaust and adding a go faster stripe.

For serious power hikes like this you would need to look at rebores, porting and polishing and add into the mix a hefty dose of forced induction.

The more powerful Hatchbacks provide a suitable donor engine for the lower powered models in the range. The lighter you can make your Pony X10, the better the performance will be. Pony X10 tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a good quality sponge or cotton gauze panel air filter. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response. The modification that gives the best power gain on your car would be a fast road cam.

NOTE: ALL ENGINE POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR STARTING POWER. The more you start with the better your gain will be. So don’t expect miracles from small engines, and engine swap is a much better proposition. Turn your attention next to the Pony X10s engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power and some owners have reported more economy. High on your list of mods for your Pony X10 should be handling improvements. To avoid other problems you should lower the car no more than 36mm.
