Modifications for the Hyundai Pony X15

Available in standard form with power of upto 65bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Pony X15. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 71.5bhp to 110.5bhp depending on how far you want to go. The larger power figure would need major work like a rebore, balancing, porting polishing and an agressive cam. It would also take a fairly hefty dose of forced induction.
The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a ’65bhp Hatchbacks’. Employ some weight reduction to make your Pony X15 perform better. Car Tuning Guide have been impressed with the addition of fuel pressure boost valves on the Pony X15s , if you want to improve your throttle response get one fitted! A fast road cam will make quite a reasonable difference to the peak power of you Pony X15.
NOTE: BHP POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR BASE BHP. The more you start with the better your gain will be. Do an engine swap rather than waste time on small engines. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head. Some Pony X15 owners report increased MPG with a flowed head. Suspension improvements can dramatically increase the road holding and cornering of your Pony X15. A drop of 35mm will work well on most cars, any lower and you will hit other problems.
