Modifications for the Hyundai Pony X3

Available in standard form with power of upto 83bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Pony X3. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 91.3bhp to 141.1bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!
If you have one of the lower powered Pony X3s you should think about an engine swap with the engine from the 83bhp Saloons. Hyundai have produced some interesting cars over the years. The Pony X3s really will benefit from a hike in the power, alternatively reducing the weight will help to improve the performance of your car. Car Tuning Guide have been impressed with the addition of fuel pressure boost valves on the Pony X3s , if you want to improve your throttle response get one fitted! The next level of modifications involve taking more aggressive action. The Pony X3 responds reasonably well to a fast road cam which is one of the best value mods out there.
NOTE: POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR BASE POWER. The more you start with the better your gain will be. Don’t waste time on small engines – do a swap. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your Pony X3 with more power and may actually give a little more economy. So get the engine head polished and ported. The Pony X3s handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. The Car Tuning Guide do not recommend lowering more than 35mm.
