Modifications for the Hyundai Pony X6

Available in standard form with power of upto 83bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Pony X6. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 91.3bhp to 141.1bhp and this would take a lot more than just bolting on a massive exhaust and adding a go faster stripe.
For serious power hikes like this you would need to look at rebores, porting and polishing and add into the mix a hefty dose of forced induction.
If you have one of the lower powered Pony X6s you should think about an engine swap with the engine from the 83bhp Hatchbacks. Hyundai have produced some interesting cars over the years. The Pony X6s really will benefit from a hike in the power, alternatively reducing the weight will help to improve the performance of your car. Pony X6 tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a good quality sponge or cotton gauze panel air filter. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response. The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the Pony X6s , you get a fast road cam.
NOTE: POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR BASE POWER. The more you start with the better your gain will be. Doing an engine swap will give a better result than modding a small engine. Turn your attention next to the Pony X6s engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power and some owners have reported more economy. The Pony X6s handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. Although lowering improves handling you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
