Increase the power of your Hyundai Pony X9

Available in standard form with power of upto 73bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Pony X9. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 80.3bhp to 124.1bhp but this is far out of the reach of your local part store.
You will need some extensive work on the engine block, gas flowing, porting, 3 angle valve job, fast road cams, a remap, full balance and blueprint and even then you will need to add some pretty serious forced induction upgrades.
Hyundai mods should include an engine swap to provide a better base to work from. The ’73bhp Hatchbacks’ is a real gem in terms of power. Lighter cars respond very well to tuning, if your car is heavy then your first job should include weight reduction. Top of your list for tuning mods will be a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality panel air filter. A fast road cam will make quite a reasonable difference to the peak power of you Pony X9.
NOTE: BHP POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR BASE BHP. The more you start with the better your gain will be. Do an engine swap rather than waste time on small engines. Turn your attention next to the Pony X9s engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power and some owners have reported more economy. Many Pony X9 owners improve the handling of their cars with slightly stiffer springs. The Car Tuning Guide do not recommend lowering more than 35mm.
