Available in standard form with power of upto 187bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Santa. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 205.7bhp to 317.9bhp and this would take a lot more than just bolting on a massive exhaust and adding a go faster stripe.
For serious power hikes like this you would need to look at rebores, porting and polishing and add into the mix a hefty dose of forced induction.
An engine swap with that from the 187bhp Santa Fe will give a massive power gain and provide a better base to work from. The already BHP endowed range of Santas reward tuners with a satisfying power gain. Santa tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.
The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the Santas , you get a fast road cam. Turn your attention next to the Santas engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.
The top Santa Fe offers a base power level of 187 bhp. The car tuning guide would expect you to see power gains from 205.7 bhp to 317.9 bhp!
A Santa with forced induction (turbo or supercharger) will give even larger power gains that this. The most powerful Santa has a healthy 187 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 243.1 bhp to 355.3bhp with mods we have outlined above.) The Santas handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
