Available in standard form with power of upto 187bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Santa. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 205.7bhp to 317.9bhp with mods ranging from a few subtle add ons to a full engine rebuild! And more in the case of most Turbo engines if you include an uprated turbo.
An engine swap with that from the 187bhp Santa Fe will give a maive power gain and provide a better base to work from. The already BHP endowed range of Santas reward tuners with a satisfying power gain. Santa tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.
The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the Santas , you get a fast road cam. Turn your attention next to the Santas engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.

A Santa with forced induction (turbo or supercharger) will give even larger power gains that this. The most powerful Santa has a healthy 187 bhp. If this is a turbo engine as standard you can further increase the power from anywhere between 243.1 bhp to 355.3bhp with mods we have outlined above.) The Santas handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
