Available in standard form with power of upto 406bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Lancer. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 446.6bhp to 690.2bhp depending on how far you want to go. The larger power figure would need major work like a rebore, balancing, porting polishing and an agressive cam. It would also take a fairly hefty dose of forced induction.
An engine swap with that from the 406bhp IX will give a massive power gain and provide a better base to work from. The already BHP endowed range of Lancers reward tuners with a satisfying power gain. Your first engine modifications for your Lancer should be an induction kit, sports exhaust and fuel boost valve.
FASTROAD CAMS should be next up on your tuning list and will offer big power gains on the Lancer. Turn your attention next to the Lancers engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.
The Lancers come in various power levels right up to 406bhp as per the IX If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of Lancer you will see power gains from anywhere between 446.6bhp to 690.2bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. .
The forced induction Lancers are around with some impressive Turbo and supercharger conversions being done. These give impressive power gains over standard but require a lot of effort to get working properly. If you have a turbo or supercharger get the intercooler uprated for even more power. The most powerful Lancer has a healthy 406 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 527.8 bhp to 771.4bhp with mods we have outlined above.) High on your list of mods for your Lancer should be handling improvements. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
