We have a comprehensive database of all the latest and greatest modifications to your car.
Available in standard form with power of upto 291bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Manta. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 320.1bhp to 494.7bhp which seems almost too good to be true but is possible if you have deep pockets.
To go over the 100bhp per 1000cc limit you would need to be running a pretty serious forced induction setup. If you head for a maximum power figure you need to expect a lot of unreliability. See this link for more details on Engine Tuning
The more powerful Manta Rays provide a suitable donor engine for the lower powered models in the range. The Car Tuning Guide have been impressed by the Mantas (especially the sporty ones!) They reward the tuner with even more power and a better ride. Top of your list for tuning mods will be a sports exhaust system, a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality induction kit.
The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the Mantas , you get a fast road cam. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head.
The top Manta Ray offers a base power level of 291 bhp. The car tuning guide would expect you to see power gains from 320.1 bhp to 494.7 bhp!
The forced induction Mantas are around with some impressive Turbo and supercharger conversions being done. These give impressive power gains over standard but require a lot of effort to get working properly. If you have a turbo or supercharger get the intercooler uprated for even more power. The most powerful Manta has a healthy 291 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 378.3 bhp to 552.9bhp with mods we have outlined above.) High on your list of mods for your Manta should be handling improvements. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
We will have more detailed Manta modification guides in the near future. Please check the site regularly for updates.
