Tuning tips for the Marlin Sportster

Available in standard form with power of upto 320bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Sportster. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 352bhp to 544bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!

The more powerful Sportster Tois provide a suitable donor engine for the lower powered models in the range. The already BHP endowed range of Sportsters reward tuners with a satisfying power gain. Car Tuning Guide have been impressed with the addition of stainless steel exhaust systems on the Sportsters , if you want to improve your top end go with an air induction filter. You should also get a better fuel pressure regulator such as those supplied by FSE

The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the Sportsters , you get a fast road cam. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your Sportster with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.

The top Sportster Toi offers a base power level of 320 bhp. The car tuning guide would expect you to see power gains from 352 bhp to 544 bhp!

A Sportster with forced induction (turbo or supercharger) will give even larger power gains that this. The most powerful Sportster has a healthy 320 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 416 bhp to 608bhp with mods we have outlined above.) Suspension improvements can dramatically increase the road holding and cornering of your Sportster. The Car Tuning Guide do not recommend lowering more than 35mm.
