Tuning the Mazda 6

Available in standard form with power of upto 257bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the 6. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 282.7bhp to 436.9bhp with mods ranging from a few subtle add ons to a full engine rebuild! And more in the case of most Turbo engines if you include an uprated turbo.
An engine swap with that from the 257bhp 6 Hatchback will give a maive power gain and provide a better base to work from. Looking at what Mazda have done with their top of the range 6s you get an idea for the tuning potential open to you. The most frequent modification we see on the 6 include sports exhausts, air intakes or induction kits and a fuel pressure boost valve.
FASTROAD CAMS should be next up on your tuning list and will offer big power gains on the 6. Turn your attention next to the 6s engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.
The 6s come in various power levels right up to 257bhp as per the 6 Hatchback If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of 6 you will see power gains from anywhere between 282.7bhp to 436.9bhp. Any more than this and you will start to see unreliability appearing.
The forced induction 6s are a tuners dream. If you have a turbo or supercharger get the intercooler uprated for even more power. The 6s come in various power levels right up to 257bhp. On a turbo 6 you will see these power gains from anywhere between 334.1bhp to 488.3bhp. Any more than this and you will start to see unreliability appearing. Suspension improvements can dramatically increase the road holding and cornering of your 6. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
