Tuning tips for the Mercedes-Benz 190

Our guide will make your 190 much better and more fun to drive!

Available in standard form with power of upto 235bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the 190. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 258.5bhp to 399.5bhp depending on how far you want to go. The larger power figure would need major work like a rebore, balancing, porting polishing and an agressive cam. It would also take a fairly hefty dose of forced induction.

Mercedes-Benz mods should include an engine swap to provide a better base to work from. The ’235bhp 190 Serie’ is a real gem in terms of power. The more powerful 190s respond well to tuning mods. Your first engine modifications for your 190 should be an induction kit, sports exhaust and fuel boost valve.

The modification that gives the biggest power gain on your car would be a fast road cam. Turn your attention next to the 190s engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.

The 190s come in various power levels right up to 235bhp as per the 190 Series If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of 190 you will see power gains from anywhere between 258.5bhp to 399.5bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. .

Mercedes-Benz put together a nice package but the turbo 190 owners have a real tuners dream. A remap and Intercooler will add a lot of power to the engine and in some cases you can double your power. The top 190 offers a base power level of 235 bhp. When setup for motorports we can expect to see almost mythical power figures approaching 305.5 bhp to 446.5 bhp! Suspension upgrades are next on every 190 owners priority list. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.

We will have more detailed 190 modification guides in the near future. Please check the site regularly for updates.
