Modifications for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
Our guide will make your Lancer Evo much better and more fun to drive!
Available in standard form with power of upto 406bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Lancer Evo. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 446.6bhp to 690.2bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!
The more powerful Lancer Evo VIs provide a suitable donor engine for the lower powered models in the range. The already BHP endowed range of Lancer Evos reward tuners with a satisfying power gain. The most frequent modification we see on the Lancer Evo include sports exhausts, air intakes or induction kits and a fuel pressure boost valve.
The modification that gives the biggest power gain on your car would be a fast road cam. Turn your attention next to the Lancer Evos engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.
The top Lancer Evo VI offers a base power level of 406 bhp. The car tuning guide would expect you to see power gains from 446.6 bhp to 690.2 bhp!
Mitsubishi put together a nice package but the turbo Lancer Evo owners have a real tuners dream. A remap and Intercooler will add a lot of power to the engine and in some cases you can double your power. The most powerful Lancer Evo has a healthy 406 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 527.8 bhp to 771.4bhp with mods we have outlined above.) Suspension upgrades are next on every Lancer Evo owners priority list. Although lowering improves handling you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
We will be covering Lancer Evo modifications in more detail in the future so plase bookmark this site and check back for regular updates.
