Tuning the Nissan 350Z

When tuning your 350Z it is important that you get it right so follow our 350Z tuning overview and see which the best modifications are.

Available in standard form with power of upto 296bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the 350Z. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 325.6bhp to 503.2bhp and this would take a lot more than just bolting on a massive exhaust and adding a go faster stripe.

For serious power hikes like this you would need to look at rebores, porting and polishing and add into the mix a hefty dose of forced induction.

The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a ‘296bhp 350Z Coupes’. Nissan certainly know what they are doing when it comes to making a fun car and the more powerful 350Zs provide and excellent tuning base to work from. 350Z tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.

The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the 350Zs , you get a fast road cam. Turn your attention next to the 350Zs engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.

Forced induction 350Zs respond exceptionally well to tuning mods especially remaps, also add an intercooler to your mod list. The top 350Z offers a base power level of 296 bhp. When setup for motorports we can expect to see almost mythical power figures approaching 384.8 bhp to 562.4 bhp! Many 350Z owners improve the handling of their cars with slightly stiffer springs. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
