Tuning tips for the Nissan Patrol
The Car Tuning Guide look at the Patrol tuning options. Which are the best modifications for the Patrol.
Available in standard form with power of upto 167bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Patrol. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 183.7bhp to 283.9bhp depending on how far you want to go. The larger power figure would need major work like a rebore, balancing, porting polishing and an agressive cam. It would also take a fairly hefty dose of forced induction.
If you have one of the lower powered Patrols you should think about an engine swap with the engine from the 167bhp Patrol Hardtops. The Car Tuning Guide have been impressed by the Patrols (especially the sporty ones!) They reward the tuner with even more power and a better ride. The most frequent modification we see on the Patrol include sports exhausts, air intakes or induction kits and a fuel pressure boost valve.
The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the Patrols , you get a fast road cam. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head.
The Patrols come in various power levels right up to 167bhp as per the Patrol Hardtop If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of Patrol you will see power gains from anywhere between 183.7bhp to 283.9bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. .
Nissan put together a nice package but the turbo Patrol owners have a real tuners dream. A remap and Intercooler will add a lot of power to the engine and in some cases you can double your power. The Patrols come in various power levels right up to 167bhp. On a motorsport prepared Patrol it is possible to achieve power figures of anywhere approaching 217.1bhp to 317.3bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. . Many Patrol owners improve the handling of their cars with slightly stiffer springs. A drop of 35mm will work well on most cars, any lower and you will hit other problems.
