Modifications for the Peugeot 407

The Car Tuning Guide look at the 407 tuning options. Which are the best modifications for the 407.

Available in standard form with power of upto 213bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the 407. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 234.3bhp to 362.1bhp with modifications varying from a few DIY mods to some pretty major engine work. The higher you go the more unreliable the car will be and you should expect to have to rebuild the engine regularly if you want to extract silly power. A big forced induction upgrade would be needed to push beyond the 100bhp per 1000cc limit.

If you have a lower powered 407 your best bet for a mod would be an engine swap with the 213bhp 407 SW Estate. The already BHP endowed range of 407s reward tuners with a satisfying power gain. 407 tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.

FASTROAD CAMS should be next up on your tuning list and will offer big power gains on the 407. Turn your attention next to the 407s engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.

The most powerful 407 SW Estate in our database offers 213 bhp. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 234.3 bhp to 362.1bhp with mods we have outlined above.

A 407 with forced induction (turbo or supercharger) will give even larger power gains that this. The top 407 offers a base power level of 213 bhp. When setup for motorports we can expect to see almost mythical power figures approaching 276.9 bhp to 404.7 bhp! High on your list of mods for your 407 should be handling improvements. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.

We will be covering 407 modifications in more detail in the future so plase bookmark this site and check back for regular updates.
