Tuning the Reliant Scimitar
We like the Scimitar and with a few of our Scimitar tuning tips we are sure you will have a fantastic car. Better than what Reliant ever intended!
Available in standard form with power of upto 136bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Scimitar. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 149.6bhp to 231.2bhp and this would take a lot more than just bolting on a massive exhaust and adding a go faster stripe.
For serious power hikes like this you would need to look at rebores, porting and polishing and add into the mix a hefty dose of forced induction.
If you have a lower powered Scimitar your best bet for a mod would be an engine swap with the 136bhp Scimitar Convertible. The more powerful Scimitars respond exceptionally well to tuning mods. Scimitar tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.
The next level of modifications involve taking more aggressive action. The Scimitar responds well to a fast road cam which is one of the best value mods out there. Turn your attention next to the Scimitars engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.
The Scimitars come in various power levels right up to 136bhp as per the Scimitar Convertible If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of Scimitar you will see power gains from anywhere between 149.6bhp to 231.2bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. . The Scimitars handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
