Tuning guide for the Renault GTA

Our guide will make your GTA much better and more fun to drive!

Available in standard form with power of upto 250bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the GTA. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 275bhp to 425bhp and this would take a lot more than just bolting on a massive exhaust and adding a go faster stripe.

For serious power hikes like this you would need to look at rebores, porting and polishing and add into the mix a hefty dose of forced induction.

If you have one of the lower powered GTAs you should think about an engine swap with the engine from the 250bhp A610s. There are some star performers in the GTA line up. With a few mods you will make yours a road scortcher rather than just a hot hatch.Top of your list for tuning mods will be a sports exhaust system, a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality induction kit.

The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the GTAs , you get a fast road cam. Turn your attention next to the GTAs engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.

The most powerful A610 in our database offers 250 bhp. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 275 bhp to 425bhp with mods we have outlined above.

The forced induction GTAs are around with some impressive Turbo and supercharger conversions being done. These give impressive power gains over standard but require a lot of effort to get working properly. If you have a turbo or supercharger get the intercooler uprated for even more power. The GTAs come in various power levels right up to 250bhp. On a motorsport prepared GTA it is possible to achieve power figures of anywhere approaching 325bhp to 475bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. Suspension improvements can dramatically increase the road holding and cornering of your GTA. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.

I believe this is for a European Renault and not the ones built for the US. The ’87 Alliance GTA had a 2.0L engine and 5-speed trans. Looking for info on where to get high performance engine parts (camshaft, pistons, etc.) to rebuild mine. Thanks
