Tuning the Renault Megane

Available in standard form with power of upto 227bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Megane. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 249.7bhp to 385.9bhp and this would take a lot more than just bolting on a massive exhaust and adding a go faster stripe.
For serious power hikes like this you would need to look at rebores, porting and polishing and add into the mix a hefty dose of forced induction.
An engine swap with that from the 227bhp Megane Hatchback will give a massive power gain and provide a better base to work from. Already a popular choice for tuning up, especially the more powerful MeganesMegane tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.
FASTROAD CAMS should be next up on your tuning list and will offer big power gains on the Megane. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your Megane with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.

You will get even larger power gains for these tuning mods on a Meganes. A simple remap and better intercooler will almost double your power.The most powerful Megane has a healthy 227 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 295.1 bhp to 431.3bhp with mods we have outlined above.) The Meganes handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. A drop of 35mm will work well on most cars, any lower and you will hit other problems.
