Tuning tips for the Rover 200 series
When tuning your 200 series it is important that you get it right so follow our 200 series tuning overview and see which the best modifications are.
Available in standard form with power of upto 201bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the 200 series. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 221.1bhp to 341.7bhp depending on how far you want to go. The larger power figure would need major work like a rebore, balancing, porting polishing and an agressive cam. It would also take a fairly hefty dose of forced induction.
An engine swap with that from the 201bhp 200 Saloon will give a massive power gain and provide a better base to work from. Looking at what Rover have done with their top of the range 200 seriess you get an idea for the tuning potential open to you. Top of your list for tuning mods will be a sports exhaust system, a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality induction kit.
The next level of modifications involve taking more aggressive action. The 200 series responds well to a fast road cam which is one of the best value mods out there. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your 200 series with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.

The forced induction 200 seriess are around with some impressive Turbo and supercharger conversions being done. These give impressive power gains over standard but require a lot of effort to get working properly. If you have a turbo or supercharger get the intercooler uprated for even more power. The top 200 series offers a base power level of 201 bhp. When setup for motorports we can expect to see almost mythical power figures approaching 261.3 bhp to 381.9 bhp! The 200 seriess handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. To avoid other problems you should lower the car no more than 36mm.
