Available in standard form with power of upto 201bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the 400. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 221.1bhp to 341.7bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!
If you have one of the lower powered 400s you should think about an engine swap with the engine from the 201bhp 400 Hatchbacks. The more powerful 400s respond well to tuning mods. Your first engine modifications for your 400 should be an induction kit, sports exhaust and fuel boost valve.
The next level of modifications involve taking more aggressive action. The 400 responds well to a fast road cam which is one of the best value mods out there. Turn your attention next to the 400s engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power.

The most powerful 400 has a healthy 201 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 261.3 bhp to 381.9bhp with mods we have outlined above.) The 400s handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. A drop of 35mm will work well on most cars, any lower and you will hit other problems.
