Available in standard form with power of upto 260bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the 9-5. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 286bhp to 442bhp which seems almost too good to be true but is possible if you have deep pockets.

The more powerful 9-5 Saloons provide a suitable donor engine for the lower powered models in the range. Saab certainly know what they are doing when it comes to making a fun car and the more powerful 9-5s provide and excellent tuning base to work from. Top of your list for tuning mods will be a sports exhaust system, a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality induction kit.
The modification that gives the biggest power gain on your car would be a fast road cam. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your 9-5 with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.
