When tuning your fortwo it is important that you get it right so follow our fortwo tuning overview and see which the best modifications are.
Available in standard form with power of upto 75bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the fortwo. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 82.5bhp to 127.5bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!
The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a ’75bhp fortwo Coupes’. Lighter cars respond very well to tuning, if your car is heavy then your first job should include weight reduction. fortwo tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a good quality sponge or cotton gauze panel air filter. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response. The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the fortwos , you get a fast road cam.
NOTE: POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR BASE POWER. The more you start with the better your gain will be. Doing an engine swap will give a better result than modding a small engine. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your fortwo with more power and may actually give a little more economy. So get the engine head polished and portedSuspension upgrades are next on every fortwo owners priority list. Although lowering improves handling you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
