When tuning your Astra it is important that you get it right so follow our Astra tuning overview and see which the best modifications are.
Available in standard form with power of upto 237bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Astra. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 260.7bhp to 402.9bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!
The Car Tuning Guide suggest that if you have a lower powered version you should do an engine swap with a ‘237bhp Astra Sport Hatchs’. Looking at what Vauxhall have done with their top of the range Astras you get an idea for the tuning potential open to you. Top of your list for tuning mods will be a sports exhaust system, a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality induction kit.
The modification that gives the biggest power gain on your car would be a fast road cam. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head.

The most powerful Astra has a healthy 237 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 308.1 bhp to 450.3bhp with mods we have outlined above.) High on your list of mods for your Astra should be handling improvements. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
