Tuning tips for the Vauxhall Nova

Engine Tuning

We look at the latest Vauxhall Nova tuning parts and recommend the best mods. Read our complete Nova tuning guide.

Available in standard form with power of upto 100bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Nova. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 110bhp to 170bhp and this would take a lot more than just bolting on a massive exhaust and adding a go faster stripe.

For serious power hikes like this you would need to look at rebores, porting and polishing and add into the mix a hefty dose of forced induction.

An engine swap with that from the 100bhp Nova Saloon will give a massive power gain and provide a better base to work from. It would seem that Vauxhall were not overly interested in producing a powerful version of the Nova. The most frequent modification we see on the Nova include sports exhausts, washable replacement panel air filters and a fuel pressure boost valve.

The modification that gives the best power gain on your car would be a fast road cam. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head. Some Nova owners report increased MPG with a flowed head.

The most powerful Nova in our database offers 100 bhp. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 110 bhp to 140bhp with mods we have outlined above.

The largest power gains for NASP engines usually involve the addition of forced induction. Superchargers are generally easier to add aftermarket to a car than a turbo. Turbos give boost in proportion to increasing engine speed and this can make mapping difficult. Superchargers however will give a boost which is proportional to engine speed so is easier to map. Many Nova owners improve the handling of their cars with slightly stiffer springs. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.

Soon the car tuning guide will offer more detailed and in depth tuning guides for the Nova so bookmark this site and we hope to see you again.
