Tuning the Vauxhall Vectra
Our guide will make your Vectra much better and more fun to drive!
Available in standard form with power of upto 278bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Vectra. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 305.8bhp to 472.6bhp with modifications varying from a few DIY mods to some pretty major engine work. The higher you go the more unreliable the car will be and you should expect to have to rebuild the engine regularly if you want to extract silly power. A big forced induction upgrade would be needed to push beyond the 100bhp per 1000cc limit.
If you have a lower powered Vectra your best bet for a mod would be an engine swap with the 278bhp Vectra Saloon. The more powerful Vectras respond exceptionally well to tuning mods. Vectra tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.
The modification that gives the biggest power gain on your car would be a fast road cam. Internal engine modifications that should be high up on your list would be polishing and porting the head.
The most powerful Vectra Saloon in our database offers 278 bhp. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 305.8 bhp to 472.6bhp with mods we have outlined above.
The forced induction Vectras are around with some impressive Turbo and supercharger conversions being done. These give impressive power gains over standard but require a lot of effort to get working properly. If you have a turbo or supercharger get the intercooler uprated for even more power. The Vectras come in various power levels right up to 278bhp. On a motorsport prepared Vectra it is possible to achieve power figures of anywhere approaching 361.4bhp to 528.2bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. . Suspension improvements can dramatically increase the road holding and cornering of your Vectra. Although lowering improves handling you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
We will have more detailed Vectra modification guides in the near future. Please check the site regularly for updates.
