Tuning guide for the Volkswagen Bora

Available in standard form with power of upto 202bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the Bora. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 220.2bhp to 295bhp with mods ranging from a few subtle add ons to a full engine rebuild! And more in the case of most Turbo engines if you include an uprated turbo.
Volkswagen mods should include an engine swap to provide a better base to work from. The ’202bhp Bora Saloon 2.8V6′ is a real gem in terms of power as are the excellent 1.8T units (tunable to over 340bhp with a KO4 turbo upgrade and a remap). Employ some weight reduction to make your Bora perform better.
Bora tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a good quality sponge or cotton gauze panel air filter. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response. FASTROAD CAMS should be next up on your tuning list and will offer reasonable power gains on the Bora.
NOTE: The more you power that you start with the better your gain will be. POWER GAINS ARE PROPORTIONAL TO YOUR BASE POWER. Rather than try to hit big power figures on a small engine try and do an engine swap instead. Turn your attention next to the Boras engine head. With a good gas flowed ported engine you will see much better mid and peak range power and some owners have reported more economy. The Boras handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. A drop of 35mm will work well on most cars, any lower and you will hit other problems.
