Increase the power of your Volvo 940

Available in standard form with power of upto 190bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the 940. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 209bhp to 323bhp with mods ranging from a few subtle add ons to a full engine rebuild! And more in the case of most Turbo engines if you include an uprated turbo.
If you have a lower powered 940 your best bet for a mod would be an engine swap with the 190bhp 940 Saloon. The Car Tuning Guide have been impressed by the 940s (especially the sporty ones!) They reward the tuner with even more power and a better ride. 940 tuning projects should generally start with some improvement to the intake/exhaust of the engine. So get a stainless steel exhaust and good quality induction kit. A good fuel pressure regulator will up the throttle response.
A fast road cam will make quite a difference to the peak power of your 940. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your 940 with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.
The top 940 Saloon offers a base power level of 190 bhp. The car tuning guide would expect you to see power gains from 209 bhp to 323 bhp!
Forced induction 940s respond exceptionally well to tuning mods especially remaps, also add an intercooler to your mod list. The 940s come in various power levels right up to 190bhp. On a turbo 940 you will see these power gains from anywhere between 247bhp to 361bhp. Any more than this and you will start to see unreliability appearing. Suspension improvements can dramatically increase the road holding and cornering of your 940. Although lowering improves handling you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
