Modifications for the Volvo C83
We like the C83 and with a few of our C83 tuning tips we are sure you will have a fantastic car. Better than what Volvo ever intended!
Available in standard form with power of upto 172bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the C83. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 189.2bhp to 292.4bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!
An engine swap with that from the 172bhp Convertible will give a massive power gain and provide a better base to work from. Already a popular choice for tuning up, especially the more powerful C83sTop of your list for tuning mods will be a sports exhaust system, a fuel boost valve (for a snappy throttle response) and a good quality induction kit.
The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the C83s , you get a fast road cam. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your C83 with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.
The top Convertible offers a base power level of 172 bhp. The car tuning guide would expect you to see power gains from 189.2 bhp to 292.4 bhp!
A C83 with forced induction (turbo or supercharger) will give even larger power gains that this. The C83s come in various power levels right up to 172bhp. On a motorsport prepared C83 it is possible to achieve power figures of anywhere approaching 223.6bhp to 326.8bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. . The C83s handling can be dramatically improved with some choice suspension modifications. Although lowering improves handling you should stick to a drop of 35mm.
