Tuning the Volvo C86

Available in standard form with power of upto 179bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the C86. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 196.9bhp to 304.3bhp but this depends on how deep your pockets are and how much fairy dust you want to use! You will almost certainly need to look at turbo or supercharger mods to get near that maximum power figure and your engines internals would need to be a fair bit stronger!
An engine swap with that from the 179bhp Convertible will give a massive power gain and provide a better base to work from. Your first engine modifications for your C86 should be an induction kit, sports exhaust and fuel boost valve.

On a motorsport prepared C86 it is possible to achieve power figures of anywhere approaching 232.7bhp to 340.1bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. . Many C86 owners improve the handling of their cars with slightly stiffer springs. To avoid other problems you should lower the car no more than 36mm.
