Modifications for the Volvo C88

Available in standard form with power of upto 179bhp (depending on the year), so this goes to show the tuning potential of the C88. From this you can increase the power from anywhere between 196.9bhp to 304.3bhp but this is far out of the reach of your local part store.
You will need some extensive work on the engine block, gas flowing, porting, 3 angle valve job, fast road cams, a remap, full balance and blueprint and even then you will need to add some pretty serious forced induction upgrades.
If you have one of the lower powered C88s you should think about an engine swap with the engine from the 179bhp Convertibles. The Car Tuning Guide have been impressed by the C88s (especially the sporty ones!) They reward the tuner with even more power and a better ride. Car Tuning Guide have been impressed with the addition of stainless steel exhaust systems on the C88s , if you want to improve your top end go with an air induction filter. You should also get a better fuel pressure regulator such as those supplied by FSE
The Car Tuning Guide recommend that on the C88s , you get a fast road cam. Getting better flow through the head of the engine would reward your C88 with more power. So get the engine head polished and ported.
The C88s come in various power levels right up to 179bhp as per the Convertible If you apply a few tuning mods to this model of C88 you will see power gains from anywhere between 196.9bhp to 304.3bhp. But this sort of power requires some pretty heavy investment and a hell of a lot of engine work. .
You will get even larger power gains for these tuning mods on a C88s. A simple remap and better intercooler will almost double your power.The most powerful C88 has a healthy 179 bhp. In a competition setting you may well, with some forced induction, reboring and other major work see power figures between 232.7 bhp to 340.1bhp with mods we have outlined above.) High on your list of mods for your C88 should be handling improvements. You shouldn’t really lower a car by more than 30-35mm.
